Well, friends. As much as I’d like to have a fun nutrition-related post for you, I’m currently in Chicago waiting out a super nasty winter storm…that will hopefully not mimic this image from the blizzard of 1967.
This was prettymuch a last minute, unplanned trip, but I managed to grab a few breakfast essentials before leaving.
Desperate times call for desperate measures. This probably would have worked better with instant oats…oh well, just trying to be resourceful.
Free oatmeal vs. $7 oatmeal (hotel food prices are seriously astronomical).

Oh, I may have eaten some of this, too…before we got buried in snow. I definitely prefer homemade pizza, but Chicago-style pizza holds a special place in my heart.

It seems like half the country is closing down…who has a snow day today?!

I can't believe you're stuck in Chicago! It's really scary out here. Stay warm!
ReplyDeletei just saw on the news "chicago is basically shut down"
ReplyDeletestay warm! stay sane!
i have an ice day in nj :). i've been getting all the fb statuses that the big snow storm hit chicago and detroit. strangely, i miss the snow storms in ann arbor! :)
ReplyDeletehave a lot of fun at Chicago with all that snow!!! :D
ReplyDeleteIt's relatively cold and windy here. Have fun in Chicago! Stay warm :)
ReplyDeletestay safe! i thought for sure i'd have a snow day but it was a delayed opening. boooooooo. so i'm prepping to go into work soon.
ReplyDeleteStay safe in all the snow!
ReplyDeleteWe don't have snow in Phoenix, but we do have what the weathermen are calling an 'arctic blast' with freezing temps and lots of wind.
Boston is pretty bad right now, but I hear Chicago is even worse!! Stay safe and warm :) And with lots of pizza!!
ReplyDeleteNo snow day here! I hope you get out safely!
ReplyDeletei was supposed to work at three different places today and they all closed! what luck! :) and the pizza looks like giordannos. Delish!!
ReplyDeleteI'm on Snow Day Number 2 today! and you know how rare that is to get at a college!
ReplyDeleteWe have a snow day! I'm doing work. Yay!
ReplyDeleteThis is my 2nd snow day (or "work-at-home" day as an adult, hehe). We didn't get anywhere near as much snow as Chitown but we got plenty of ice!
ReplyDeleteNot me! Part of me is a little bit jealous, but the other part is happy to still have use of my car...
ReplyDeleteI love snow days but don't envy you a bit! well, maybe your oatmeal!!
ReplyDeleteI like your idea of a team concept for the Krispy Kremes!! :)
Stuff is melting in NYC, so no snow day! Although I do have the day off from work, but that was planned...
ReplyDeleteI saw pictures of the snow in Chicago and some first hand accounts from my mother...crazy stuff!
I am happily warm inside on a snow day, doing some research and catching up on blogs :)
ReplyDeleteoh wow thats crazy snow hope its OK for you and you don't get stuck hugs rebecca
ReplyDeleteTry to stay warm and cozy!
ReplyDeleteYou have the best post title, just so you know :) so awesome. good luck!!!
ReplyDeleteAhh! I feel so awful for all you Chicagoans, my little brother's going there in 2 weeks with his school and I'm terrified they'll get trapped for a week or something! I agree with Courtney (pancakes and postcards) that your post title= amazing!!
ReplyDeleteenjoy chitown girl!! i hear its beastly there but atleaaast you have delicious pizza to keep you warm and full!
ReplyDeleteDon't hate me, but it was 59 degrees last time I checked. Even though the island is in line with Maryland, the gulf stream keeps it warm here. But we get nasty rains and lots of wind. I hope you get out of the snow soon.
ReplyDeleteI LOVE Chicago-style pizza! I hope you make it home safe and sound. SLU had TWO snow days in a row this week (unheard of), but back to school today :(
ReplyDeletewhoa ive seen the crazy amout of snow that fell on the news!! at least you've got chicago pizza!
ReplyDeleteThat weather is crazy!! I can't even imagine. I live in LV and I wouldn't even know what to do with myself.
ReplyDeleteOn a more positive note, Chicago deep dish is delicious!!
man, you guys have been having some crazy weather over there! hope you're keeping warm!
ReplyDelete(p.s. it's summer here in Oz and it's been 107 degress...i know, life is rough...:))
There has been an awful lot of snow this season. I'm glad to hear that you made the most of it. There really is nothing like a Chicago deep dish pizza, it's totally comforting and fun.
ReplyDeleteI miss Chicago! I got to visit sometime. I also miss their deep dish pizza. I have to say, I do prefer Chicago-styled pizza over New York-styled. Although, New York pizza is still really good. I actually do have a Giordano's here in Florida. But it isn't quite the same.
ReplyDeletesnow! 4 storms have rolled and raged their way through Boston, but no snow day at the hospital for me yet. it's ok, I'm paying off the investment on my sorel boots. Emily, hope you are staying warm and dry!
