bear with me, please…

So, with all of the craziness going on, my blogging might become slightly sporadic for the next couple of weeks. I’m currently on orientation overload…after sitting for 8 hours on day 1, I am now an expert on all types of fire extinguishers and cultural competency.

I’m also back to working early hours, which means 7 am start times. It is so fortunate that I am a morning person. And yes, I do pick out my clothes and pack my lunch the night before…anything to save time.

I can’t do much cooking right now (moving to my own apartment in a couple of weeks!). Soon, I will have a ton more space, including a special counter spot for my beloved Kitchen Aid mixer, but until then I’m living on tortillas and hummus. And green smoothies.

But I’m really craving a bowl of this right now…if anyone wants to send some soup this way, you’d definitely be my hero.

Are you a morning person? If not, how do you function in the morning?!

  3. I'm a total morning person. I start to fade around 3 pm each day. I've never been much of a late night party girl!

  4. i'm more a morning person than a night person. moreso because i lose all motivation in the afternoon!

hope things calm down for you and you continue settling in.

  5. I try to go for a run in the mornings...if not I pretty much feel lethargic the whole day. Coffee and chocolate in the mornings for me!

Good luck with the move, Em!

  6. I would love to be a morning person, but alas I am not. I usually have most of my energy in the middle of the day!

  7. Another morning person here! I can't function well after 6pm.

  8. I am a morning person, but ONLY in a routine! If you ask me to get up at 5:30 a.m. after sleeping in for 10 days straight...no thank you. But if I'm in a routine, 5:30 starts to become natural. I'm at work by 7:15 a.m. Mon - Fri and I love it because I'm done by 3:30!

Have fun with your orientation! :)

  12. i am a morning person, but i'm totally with you about saving time in the morning! picking out an outfit the night before (or at least visualizing what you're going to wear so you have a plan) and making lunch are key!

  14. Those yellow flats are SOOOOOO CUTTTTEEE!!! I love them to the moon and back, no joke! May I ask where on earth you got them!? I'd love some shoes like that in orange or teal or yellow...any bright color really! Oh, and I'm definitely a morning person...can't sleep past 8:30 to save my life!

  15. I hope everything goes well with moving and you get settled in soon. Moving is so stressful with everything else going on! I am definitely more focused in the am and wish I could have time to work on thesis first thing because after work I lose all motivation and want to veg! That soup and green smoothie sure look tasty.

  17. I bet your schedule is completely knew and it will take some time to get back into the groove. Like you, I am a morning person, so the early hours typically don't bother me. Also like you, I set out my clothes and pack my lunch the night before, because even ten minutes more sleep is helpful!!

I hope you're enjoying everything, and everyone so far. Remember when we met in orientation?!?! :)

  18. I, too, would LOVE to know where the yellow flats are from! :)

  21. Yes, I am generally a morning person, but I also like late nights. I am so sorry to say this but I think I missed something. Did you start a new job? I know you moved, but I have been in and out of regular posting and I definitely think I missed something. Congrats on whatever it is.

  22. I love the morning. However my neighbors probably hate it because Kristin and I have dance parties in the morning (5:30) and I just got a new sound system aka its really loud. At least its good music, right? Is that an egg I spotted in your dilla? I wish you could have some of my eggs from the chickens, they are super delish. Send me a recipe for that smoothie or a couple. Yours look so much better than my poor efforts. If you saw an after picture of the one I sent you, you would laugh then gag.

  24. I'm doing pretty well with my morning routine, so I think I'm making a successful transition to being a morning person. The secret is to get enough sleep, I guess...otherwise I turn into a cranky monster.

I hope your transition is smooth...like a smoothie.

  25. I'm a morning person for sure. I don't even have to set an alarm to get up for class! I love having the sunshine wake me up, its much more serene than the buzz of an alarm! I also always get my things ready before I go to sleep. That way, I know I'll start my day stress free.

By the way, I'm loving pitas and hummus right now too. With a side salad and some fruit, it makes the perfect lunch!

  26. Good luck with everything!

Yes, I'm a morning person, which is a good thing as I start teaching at 7:00 a.m. I'm also not a night person at all...

  27. Ah, I just did orientation not too long ago, and I remember the days of being all idealistic and knowing where all the fire extinguishers are! Too funny.

I am NOT a morning person, but I leave my apartment at 7am so I kind of have to be...luckily coffee and a job where you're on your toes from the start wakes you up quite fast!

Love all the colors in your clothes!

  28. Thanks for telling me where you got the shoes; I just saw them again and still seriously love them:)

  29. I am not a morning person. For years, I had to get into the office at 5:30am an hour before the stock market opened, and I have no idea how I did it. I remember walking from my house to the office at 5am M-F and I think that helped wake me up. Best wishes with your new venture.
